In the wise words of one Mr. Kanye West, "We culture! Rap the new rock and roll!"

Whether that's true or not (it is) is not the point. Hip hop is the States' last great gift to the world, so it only makes sense that they celebrate it properly.

Here are the top 10 festivals to get your hip hop fix in the grand US of A.

Rolling Loud

Festival Lineup (2021): A$AP Rocky, Travis Scott, Post Malone, 21 Savage, Young Thug, Lil Uzi Vert, Megan Thee Stallion

The biggest hip hop festival in the world, Rolling Loud is a must for any rap head. One of the main reasons for Rolling Loud's quick ascent to the top is that it was the first to really represent the new generation of influential headliners and energetic newcomers. Much like Tomorrowland for EDM or Hellfest for metal, Rolling Loud's annual lineup poster is essentially a portrayal of the hip hop's current hierarchy.

Started in 2015 with the festival's flagship event in Miami, Rolling Loud has expanded into a global brand, with editions taking place all over the world.

When & Where: February 12-14 2021, Miami, FL / TBA September 2021, Oakland, CA / TBA October 2021, Queens, NY / TBA December 2021, Los Angeles, CA

Made In America

Festival Lineup (2019): Cardi B, Travis Scott, James Blake, Lizzo, Juice WRLD, Rosalía, KAYTRANADA

Founded by Jay-Z, aka the greatest rapper of all time (yes that's right, I said it), Made In America started off as a kind of more professional version of The Roots Picnic. And interestingly enough they both take place in Philly.

These days though the festival has transformed into an ahead-of-the-curve zeitgeist showcase, having a knack of tabbing artists right before they blow up.

Heard of it? The most famous festival in North America showcases talent across all popular genres, but as hip hop rose to become the sound of The States more and more of its artists started showing up on the bill. So much so that now you can make the argument that hip hop is the most represented sound at Coachella. Do you really need convincing that the pride of American festivals needs to be on any music lover's bucket list?
