Land of large lakes, Rubiks cubes and beautiful wines, Hungary is a fantastic place to visit.
So instead of following the crowd and flocking to Amsterdam to fill your need for festival fever, take a stop in Hungary at these amazing festivals to see they have everything you need.
Sziget Festival
Headliners (2019): Ed Sheeran, Muse, Gorillaz, Kendrick Lamar, Martin Garrix
At over 25 years old, Sziget Festival is one of the biggest and best known festivals in Europe. It is held each August on the picturesque Óbuda Island in the Hungarian capital, Budapest. Over the decades, they have seen many high ranking artists flood their stages in all genres from rock, pop, indie and dance. Alongside the music they also offer a cinema, circus shows and a small beach - Yes, in Hungary!

Balaton Sound
Headliners (2019): Marshmello, Armin van Buuren, DJ Snake, The Chainsmokers, Future
One of Eastern Europes biggest electronic music festivals, this is Sziget's sister festival. Even though Hungary is landlocked, this festival has put it on the map for being one of Europes greatest beach festival destinations for EDM, with fantastic beaches on the Idillic Lake. Now into it's second decade, every year they supply a lineup of DM, techno and house giants, across their impressive 9 stages.

Budafest

Spread throughout the city, Budapest brings together likeminded ravers with a lineup of creative DJ's to give you a full experience. Dotted about from bath houses to boat parties, they give you the chance to see Hungary's beautiful Capital. A choose your own adventure kind of event, you can explore the city whilst getting your dancing shoes on for the best three days.

Volt Festival
Headliners (2019): Slash, Slipknot, Black Eyed Peas, Papa Roach
Another sibling festival to Sziget, this time taking place in Sopron, this festival came about in 1993, named after the pop culture magazine of the same name. Volt gives us the names in rock, alt, urban, pop and jazz. They offer way more than just music though, with fantastic live theatre performances, visual art exhibitions, sports events and more.

Efott Festival
Headliners (2019): Rita Ora, Margaret Island, Follow the Flow,
Efott is an eclectic Hungarian festival that takes place on the banks of Lake Velence every summer. They pride themselves on bringing in fantastic names from all genres. Much like Spring Break, they give over 100,000 students the chance to celebrate the end of the year, lying on a beach at the edge of a picturesque lake surrounded by excellent musical talent. The perfect start to the summer.

Kolorádó Fesztivál
Headliners (2019): Yves Tumor, Kurt Vile and the Violators, Femi Kuti and the Positive Force
Kolorádó Fesztivál is an alternative music festival in Nagykovácsi, Hungary. Heading into its fifth edition, the festival is a set on the outskirts of Budapest, in the Buda Hills. Known for its out of the mainstream lineup, they love bringing in the new talent and giving them a platform to express themselves. With a community feel, this festival is one for the free-spirited.

Campus Fesztival
Headliners (2019): Willy William, Alan Walker, Tankcsapda
One of the few festivals that allows children onto the premises, under 12's go free. With a real community feel, allowing families to stand beside partiers, they have events happening all the time, with celebrated artists going along with underground and up and coming artists. They give people the chance to bring something new and show something creative. A really special place.

SZIN: Szegedi Ifjúsági Napok
Headliners (2019): Afrojack, Clean Bandit, Salvator Ganacci
Predating Woodstock and Glastonbury, SZIN is one of the longest running festivals in the world. Held in the scenic city of Szeged, the festival annually curates a killer lineup of interesting, diverse and international artists from a multitude of genres. The festival, which happens at the end of August, is viewed as a symbolic end to summer - the final major blowout before we settle back down to bring in the autumn chill.
