Folk Music Festivals

Folk music originated in the early 20th century and is tied into the idea of folklore as songs seemed to be passed on informally and verbally through generations. 

Folk often involves plucking string instruments and implementing harmonica, banjo, and accordion. 

Folk festivals have a unique feel, often filled with portable chairs for festival-goers to relax. Folk festivals include the likes of Moseley Folk Festival, Quest Festival, The Long Road Festival, Philadelphia Folk Festival, and Newport Folk Festival. 

Folk rock has also become a popular sub genre, including artists such as Mumford and Sons or The Lumineers. Artists such as Levellers, Billy Bragg, MNKYBSNSS can be seen playing at a number of Folk festivals.
