One of the world's most beautiful music festivals
Lake of Stars is a multi-genre music festival held annually on the banks of Lake Malawi. Widely regarded as one the most scenic locations for a musical festival anywhere in the world, the lakeside town of Chintheche plays host to music-lovers and artists both from Malawi and from across the globe.
The festival was established as a means to promote Malawi as a tourist destination, showcase the beauty of the nation and its cultural heritage, bring money into a developing country, and raise funds for charities and relief efforts.
Musically, the lineup is an intriguing combination of Malawian musicians and globally renowned acts – with the likes of Foals, Young Fathers and Annie Mac among those who have played on the stunning lakeside stages in recent years.
Lineup
The lineup for 2017 has not been announced yet. Last year it included Freshlyground, Timo Maas, My Nu Leng, Roberto and many more.
The festival takes place on the shores of Lake Malawi, the third largest in Africa and the ninth largest in the whole world, which is lined with beaches and stunning natural landscapes.
