Bringing the sounds of the underground outdoors
Blijdorp Festival is a house and techno festival in Rotterdam. The festival transforms Roel Langerakpark into a land of discovery, with stages set amongst the park's forests and alongside its lake.
Heading into its fourth year, Blijdorp has built a reputation as one of the best parties around, annually offering lineups of the established and up and coming underground DJs.
This year the festival has added a fully dedicated hip hop stage called Amazonica. The stage itself is a massive open air dome, inspired by the butterfly paradise at the neighbouring Rotterdam Zoo.
Though music is the main event, the festival is a broader cultural experience, with visual arts and food stalls strewn throughout its scenic site.
