Rita Ora
It’s not often that an unsigned artist can turn the heads of industry insiders, but Rita Ora did exactly that seeing Jay-Z snap up her signature for his label Roc Nation as one of their first signings in 2008.
It took a few years before Ora found her feet, however, when she caught DJ Fresh’s attention and contributed vocals to UK Number One single ‘Hot Right Now’ in 2012. This earned her the support slot for Drake on his Club Paradise Tour that year and saw both sides of the Atlantic paying attention to her brand of R’n’B-tinged pop.
Her first solo single, the Chase & Status produced ‘R.I.P’ featuring Tinie Tempah hit the summit of the UK singles charts a few months later and established Rita Ora as one of the most exciting pop artists of that year.
BRIT, MTV, and MOBO awards swiftly followed upon release of her debut album, and after the acrimonious split with Roc Nation, Ora signed to Atlantic Records to record her 2018 sophomore album ‘Phoenix’. Lead single ‘Girls’ which featured guest performances from Cardi B, Charlie XCX, and Bebe Rexha adding to her tally of 11 Top Ten UK Chart Singles.
Rita Ora was a mainstay on the festival circuit during 2018, continually touring throughout Europe playing to her adoring fans at major festivals such as Rize Festival and Isle Of Wight Festival in the UK, Balaton Sound in Hungary, and Summer Daze in Malta.
Aside from music, Ora also appeared regularly on television with guest spots as a judge on The X Factor and The Voice, making her one of the most recognised pop talents today.
