Camila Cabello
The figurehead of the modern Latin pop hybrid movement and having been in the public eye for six years now, you’d be forgiven for forgetting that Camila Cabello is still only 21 years old.
Born in, you guessed it, Havana, her family relocated to Miami when she was still young, where she dropped out of high school at 14 to pursue a singing career.
She was discovered on The X Factor in 2012, where she burst onto the scene as a member of the Simon Cowell mentored pop group Fifth Harmony. With hit songs such as “Worth It” and “Work From Home,” along with smash albums Reflection and 7/27, the group racked up both commercial and critical acclaim, annually finding themselves on many year-end lists.
A songwriter in her own right, Camila had more ambitions than being in a group and by 2015 she started releasing solo material. First up was the Top 10 single “I Know What You Did Last Summer” she wrote and performed with Canadian sensation Shawn Mendes.
On the heels of this success, she started focussing on a solo career more and released the huge joint single “Bad Things” alongside Machine Gun Kelly in 2016.
Officially leaving Fifth Harmony at the end of the year, Camila cemented her spot atop the pop world with the global hit “Havana.” Going number one in 23 countries, the single went on to become Spotify’s most streamed song ever by a solo female artist.
Extensively touring in 2018, she hit festivals like Isle of Wight Festival and Lollapalooza as well as opening for Taylor Swift.
With hits under her belt and an absolutely stunning voice, the sky’s the limit for the Cuban powerhouse.
