The UK's most famous rock music festival

Reading Festival is the UK's most famous rock music festival. Founded in 1955 as the Beaulieu Jazz Festival, and later Reading Festival in 1971, the festival's hall of fame reads like an encyclopedia of rock 'n' roll legends - The Rolling Stones, The Jam, The Who and Fleetwood Mac have all played it.

So famous is it, it's now become a rite of passage for all young festival-goers. Just ask any rock fan, and we're sure they'll have a story or two to tell you about the times they've been.

Although inherently rock, the festival now spans a diverse mix of genres, mirroring the changing musical landscape. Take a wander around its site and you'll find everything from grime and hip-hop to house, techno and drum and bass.

Just look at 2019's lineup, which features headliners the Foo Fighters, The 1975, Post Malone and Twenty One Pilots, as well as the likes of Bastille, Billie Eilish, Blossoms, Denis Sulta and Stefflon Don coming up the rear.

And it isn't just about music at Reading, with the festival also laying on a lineup of comedy, as well as film screenings and more.
