Rock, pop and alternative music on a massive scale
Since the axe-wielding 70s when The Jam and The Stranglers were headlining the main stage, Reading Festival has evolved and grown into the mud-soaked, multi genre madness that survives as the oldest popular music festival in the world.
Now throwing out a cross-culture feast of rock, pop, progressive rock, pop-punk, metal, RnB, hip-hop, electronica and dance music, as well as comedy and cinema, Reading is just about as prestigious as UK festivals come. The packed lineup always finds space for newcomers, established underground and mainstream acts, and frequent appearances by old-school legends from the likes of Pixies and Pearl Jam to Radiohead and Nine Inch Nails.
Little John’s Farm has room for 87,000, with seven stages run by the likes of NME, BBC Radio 1 and Reading organisers themselves, Festival Republic. Make sure you get in fast, because tickets fly off the shelves quicker than you can say ‘rock n’ roll’.
