The famous rite of passage for festival first-timers

Reading Festival is undoubtedly one of the UK's most popular and prestigious music festivals.

A festival that has welcomed some of the most iconic and important names in contemporary rock throughout the years, Reading Festival now embraces a whole range of genres - such as dance, grime, pop and hip-hop - while still remaining inherently focused on rock's current superstars.

Immensely popular with a younger demographic nowadays, Reading and its northern sibling Leeds are now a widely considered rite of passage for festival first-timers, while many older festival-goers will no doubt have many stories from fabled times at either festival.

And when it comes to the music, Reading's list of past headliners reads like a hall of fame: Nirvana, Arctic Monkeys, Foo Fighters, The Rolling Stones, The Who, Radiohead, Rage Against The Machine, Björk, Eminem, Kendrick Lamar and Fleetwood Mac have all graced its main stage.

And beyond the music, Reading Festival also showcases an expanded lineup of comedy as well as film screenings, giving festival-goers the ideal excuse to take a break when you're not getting stuck into the mosh pits.
