Line-up

Ein runder 50. Geburtstag

Das Isle of Wight Festival ist eines der bekanntesten Rock- und Pop-Festivals im Vereinigten Königreich und verfügt über eine lange Geschichte. Die erste Ausgabe fand im Jahre 1968 statt und das Festival wurde nach dem Jahr 1970 aufgrund der schieren Masse an Besuchern, die zum letzten Konzert von Jimi Hendrix kamen, verboten.

Im Jahr 2002 kehrte es als Rock Island zurück und hat sich seither dank seiner Line-ups mit Rock, Pop und elektronischer Musik einen weltweiten Ruf erarbeitet. Zu seiner Hall of Fame zählen David Bowie, Jay Z, Fleetwood Mac und Queen.

Das Isle of Wight wurde bereits zweimal aufgrund seiner entspannten, inklusiven Atmosphäre und seinem Angebot an Aktivitäten für alle Altersgruppen als Family Festival of the Year benannt. Letztes Jahr kamen über 58.000 Festivalgänger zum Seaclose Park, um dort bei Musik, Theater, Film, Comedy, Spaß und Spiel das Isle of Wight Festival zu feiern.

Die Isle of Wight liegt vor der Südküste Englands und ist mit Fähre oder Luftkissenboot von Southampton, Portsmouth, Lymington und Southsea aus zu erreichen.

Häufig gestellte Fragen

Zur Isle of Wight zu kommen, ist sehr einfach. Du brauchst nur zu einem der vier Häfen Southampton, Portsmouth, Lymington oder Southsea zu reisen.

Southampton: Red Funnel bietet zwei Fahrtmöglichkeiten an: Die Fähre von Southampton nach East Cowes oder den Red Jet von Southampton nach West Cowes. An beiden Terminals in Cowes gibt es Bushaltestellen, von denen du Busse direkt zum Festivalgelände nehmen kannst.

Portsmouth und Lymington: Wightlink bietet zwei verschiedene Verbindungen an, eine von Lymington nach Yarmouth (35 Minuten Überfahrt) und eine von Portsmouth nach Fishbourne (40 Minuten Überfahrt). Es gibt Bushaltestellen an beiden Terminals, von denen du Busse direkt zum Festivalgelände nehmen kannst.

Southsea: Hovertravel bietet ein Luftkissenboot für alle an, die ohne Fahrzeug von Southsea nach Ryde übersetzen möchten. Es gibt eine Busverbindung von Ryde zum Festivalgelände.

Alternativ fahren Taxis von allen Häfen zum Festivalgelände, wenn du nicht mit dem Bus fahren möchtest.

Besucher aller Altersgruppen können das Isle of Wight Festival besuchen. Alle Besucher unter 12 Jahren haben kostenlosen Zutritt, müssen ihren Besuch jedoch vorher anmelden.
