The UK's Woodstock is back for another year

Isle of Wight Festival is one of the most eclectic music festivals in Europe. After its legendary first editions between 1968 and 1970, IOW was resurrected in 2002 and now showcases the very best of rock, pop, indie and electro music in an idyllic spot off England's south coast.

Perched at the top table of the continent's music scene, IOW holds enough prestige to lure a star-studded lineup year after year. 2015 saw Fleetwood Mac show up for their only UK festival performance of the summer, alongside diverse big-hitters from blues all the way to hip-hop.

And beyond the music, Seaclose Park is packed with side-entertainment from comedy and cabaret to poetry and quizzes, with the festival's traditional fairground adding to the family-friendly atmosphere.

The Isle of Wight is an island in the English Channel, close to the towns of Portsmouth and Southampton on the mainland. Newport is the biggest town on the island, and Seaclose Park is just to the north of it. The river Medina runs right past the festival site.

Getting to the Isle of Wight is very simple. All you need to do is get yourself to one of the four mainland ferry ports at Southampton, Portsmouth, Lymington or Southsea.

Southampton: Red Funnel offers two services: the ferry from Southampton to East Cowes or the Red Jet from Southampton to West Cowes. There are bus stations at both Cowes’ terminals where you can catch the bus to take you directly to the Festival if you are on foot.

Portsmouth & Lymington: Wightlink operates two services, one from Lymington to Yarmouth (35min crossing) and the other from Portsmouth to Fishbourne (40min crossing). There are bus stations at both Island terminals where you can catch the bus to take you directly to Festival.

Southsea: Hovertravel operates a hovercraft service - only for those on foot - from Southsea to Ryde. A bus service is available in Ryde for transport to the Festival.

Alternatively, there are taxi services running from all ports if you'd rather take one instead of the bus.

All ages can attend Isle of Wight Festival, and those under 12 get in for free – but they must still be booked in advance.

The campsite opens at 12 noon on Thursday 9 June 2016, and will close at 2pm on Monday 13 June 2016.

Throughout the festival, entertainment will end at:

Thursday at 11pm

Friday at 2am

Saturday at 2am

Sunday at 1am

All camping tickets give you unlimited re-entry to the Festival throughout the weekend. Once the weekend is over, you will need to leave the Campsite by 2pm on Monday 13 June.

Cooking will be permitted on gas stoves (using 300ml or less canisters) and disposable BBQs ONLY in designated areas. These must be used sensibly and in accordance with the manufacturer's instructions. Cooking on gas where installed in a campervan parked within the official campervan area is also permitted. Cooking by all other means including open fires, BBQs (other than disposable) and any other kind of gas appliance is strictly prohibited and all such items will be confiscated. Cooking in tents is banned.

NO CAMP FIRES!
