Jay-Z is an American rapper, songwriter, producer, entrepreneur, and record executive. He is considered by many as being one of the best rappers of all time. In 1996, Jay-Z released his debut album, “Reasonable Doubt”, to critical acclaim. It went on to sell one million copies in the US alone. In 2001, he released “The Blueprint”, which contained the singles “Girls, Girls, Girls” and “Song Cry”. 2003 saw the release of Jay-Z’s, “The Black Album”, with singles such as “99 Problems” and “Dirt off Your Shoulder”. The record sold 3.5 million copies in the US alone. “The Blueprint 3” was released in 2009, and features the singles “Run This Town” (featuring Rihanna and Kanye West” and “Empire State of Mind” (featuring Alicia Keys). 2011 saw the release of “Watch the Throne”, a collaboration with Kanye West. It contained the singles “Otis” and “No Church in the Wild”. Their joint tour grossed $75 million from only 57 shows. In 2018, “Everything is Love”, was released; a collaboration between Jay-Z and Beyonce, credited to ‘the Carters’, their surnames by marriage. Jay-Z has performed at a number of festivals, including Glastonbury, Wireless, Coachella, Roskilde and Austin City Limits.
