Dua Lipa
There’s genuinely only one way to describe Dua Lipa’s ascent to global superstardom: meteoric.
Regularly mistaken as an alias, Dua Lipa is actually her birth name, and having relocated with her family to Kosovo at the age of 14, it wasn’t until her return to London when her musical journey began.
Covering her favourite pop star’s songs and posting them on YouTube got the attention of Warner Music who saw her potential, signed a record deal with her, and released her first single ‘Be The One’ shortly after. The single was a resounding success across Europe, and the rest, they say, is history.
Subsequent singles ‘Hotter Than Hell’, and ‘New Rules’ firmly placed Dua Lipa on the pedestal of pop stardom, and an appearance at Glastonbury in 2017 proved her credentials by drawing in one of the biggest crowds of the festival.
With an extensive list of accolades such as ‘most streamed artist in the UK’ on Spotify in 2017, in the following January Dua Lipa was also the first female artist in history to be nominated for five Brit Awards. In 2018, ‘One Kiss’, a collaboration with Calvin Harris reached Number One in the charts and further cemented Dua Lipa’s reputation as a global phenomenon.
A regular on the summer festival circuit, impressive appearances at Reading and Leeds Festival, Sziget, and Mad Cool Festival demonstrated that as one of the world’s most engaging performers, she knows how to work a festival crowd.
