Music Festivals in Russia

Despite its controversial political and social climate, Russia can be a great country to discover new music. In 2018, there was a crackdown on concerts and music festivals in Russia, mainly with pop music, due to the government wanting to censor any modern ideas that might influence its citizens. The country is still trying to recover from this big decline. There is, however, a major club scene in Moscow, St. Petersburg, and some other cities; and  the country hosts the electronic, EDM, and house festival Alfa Future People.

Russian festivals include the likes of Alfa Future People, Gamma Festival and Chill Out Planet Festival. Hopefully we will see more festivals soon, depending on how the government reacts. 

Artists such as Nina Kraviz, Codex Empire and Ellen Allien can be seen playing at a number of Russian festivals.
