Music Festivals in Manchester

The northern UK city of Manchester is a city steeped in musical history. The birthplace of iconic bands such as Oasis, The Smiths and Joy Division, it was also the hub of the 90s rave scene, notably played out inside its famous Hacienda nightclub. 

Nowadays Manchester retains its rich musical tradition, with a host of festivals taking up the mantle. From the legendary club series that is The Warehouse Project (featuring the show elrow Manchester – Nowmads) to the alternative Parklife weekender, indie-sensation Neighbourhood (Festival and Weekender), the DIY indie gem that is Dot to Dot, and the Sounds of the City event series at the Castlefield Bowl, there's no doubting Manchester is still a glistening jewel in the UK's music crown. Also, taking place in June 2020 will be Liam Gallagher at Heaton Park.

In August, Manchester Pride, a celebration of the LGBT+ community, takes place. The event has seen appearances from Ariana Grande, Years & Years and Emeli Sandé.
