James Blake
After a few early releases between 2009 and 2010, namely a 12” record and a few EPs, James Blake launched his self-titled album in 2011. Blake was nominated for the BBC’s Sound of 2011 award and eventually came second. His second album, “Overgrown”, was released in April 2013, spawning the hit single “Retrograde”, with the album also featuring producer Brian Eno and RZA from Wu-Tang Clan. It went on to win the 2013 Mercury Music Prize, ahead of records by Arctic Monkeys, Foals, Jake Bugg and even the late David Bowie. Blake received a Grammy nomination in 2014 for Best New Artist. In May 2016, Blake released his third album “The Colour in Anything”, featuring contributions by Justin Vernon and Frank Ocean. Blake is known as being a hip-hop fan but threw a bit of a curve ball when he produced and was featured on the song "Forward" from Beyoncé's 2016 album “Lemonade”. He also co-wrote the album's opening track, "Pray You Catch Me". His fourth album, “Assume Form” was released in January 2019, featuring guest vocals from Travis Scott and Andre 3000. James Blake has performed at Made in America Festival, Pukkelpop, Fuji Rock, Splendour in the Grass, Montreux Jazz Festival, NOS Primavera Sound, Primavera Sound, All Points East, and many more.
